As the ancient text Questions on the Seasons puts it: “At this time, all things grow in purity and clarity — hence the name Qingming.” Once again, the Qingming Festival arrives, bringing with it the splendor of spring — clear skies, bright earth, and new life budding in every blade of grass. Yet it also carries the enduring sentiment of a people who honor the past and remember those who came before.
Qingming Remembrance, Craftsmanship Guarding Our Land
In the spirit of Qingming, we pause and look back: to honor our departed loved ones, to cherish the memories of unforgettable years; and to pay tribute to the revolutionary pioneers, to remember the loyal souls of our heroes — those who gave their lives for a mission and wrote their devotion in blood.
Our land stands unharmed because some gave everything to protect it; our days are peaceful because our forebears bore the heaviest burdens so we wouldn’t have to.
